Buckeye Lake Dam
24 March 2015
We are aware of the potential for water inundation in our community due to a break in the earthen dam at Buckeye Lake and are working closely with local and state emergency responders to be prepared to respond to and minimize loss of life and property in our community.
The Hebron Fire Chief, Hebron Police Chief, Hebron Mayor and Hebron Village Administrator have communicated regularly with Mr. Sean Grady, Director of the Licking County Emergency Management/Homeland Security Agency, representatives from Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Licking County Sheriff’s Department, all Buckeye Lake area police and fire departments and officials of Lakewood Local Schools concerning the report issued by the US Army Corp of Engineers regarding the potential breech of the earthen dam at Buckeye Lake.
We strongly encourage every resident to visit the Licking County Emergency Management/Homeland Security website at www.lcounty.com/ema and follow the steps to join the emergency notification option titled Code Red. All residents are encouraged to also visit buckeyelakedamsafety.com for additional valuable information regarding the issue. Links to this and other pertinent information may be found on the Village of Hebron website as well as the Hebron Fire and Police sites which may be found at hebronvillage.com.
