The Dawes Arboretum is a non-profit private foundation engaged in scientific education in horticulture, natural history, and arboretum history. The arboretum is open from dawn to dusk every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Other holidays from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tours and classes available. Devine Farms began in 1992 with the purchase of a 96 acre farm on the National Road located on Rt. 40 between SR 37 & 79 complete with an 1890 farmhouse on the property. The farm is known for pumpkins and fun activities from late September through October every year. Squirrel corn and straw bales are available year round. Call: 740-928-8320.

Hebron Historical Society The Village of Hebron was platted in 1827 and the Hebron Historical Society was founded in 1974. Meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:30 PM at the Masonic Temple on N. High St., just behind Park National Bank. All are welcome. You may contact the Society at P. O. Hebron Area Soccer Association - HASA is an opportunity for boys and girls to play the game of soccer in a safe and enjoyable environment. Flint Ridge State Memorial Park and Museum. The 5 square mile park is open from May through October. Located on County Rd. 668, 2 miles north of I-70. Grounds are always open. The museum is open Wednesday through Labor Day, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and weekends Labor Day through October. (740) 787-2476

Moundbuilders State Memorial and Ohio Indian Art Museum. Located 9 miles north of I-70 on St. Rt. 79. An additional earthwork, the Octagon Mound, is located on Parkview Rd. (21st St.) in Newark/Heath. Grounds are always open. The museum is open Wednesday through Labor Day, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and weekends Labor Day through October. Call: (740) 344-1920

Black Hand Gorge is located just 9 miles east of Newark on State Route 146 opening daily from daylight to dusk. You can journey through time as you witness remnants of the Ohio Canal, which gave way to the rairoads, and later, the "Electric Interurban" trolley cars in the 1890's. Tracks of all three modes of travel still remain.

The National Heisey Glass Museum houses hundreds of Heisey patterns produced by A.H. Heisey and Company from 1896 through 1957. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Closed on Mondays and Holidays. Located in Veterans Park at 6th and Church Sts. Call: (740) 345-2932

The Old Canal Lock is located in Heath, Ohio on your way to Newark via State Route 79. The old lock is famous because this is where a golden shovel was used to break ground for the Ohio Erie Canal. There is a monument there telling this story. State Route 79 follows much of the Old Ohio Canal bed or it crosses it in several places with some of the old canal still visible. Today some of the Ohio Canal has water in it north of Seller's Point and also some along State Route 360. This particular part of the canal goes under State Route 79 and supplies water to the Hebron Fish Hatchery. Visitors can drive along the canal or many times people will fish in the old canal. This canal connected Lake Erie at Cleveland with the Ohio River in Portsmouth.
